Just realised that I have some photos that I was supposed to post on the blog when I was back in Singapore. But alas, I couldn't get my lazy ass into doing it. Well since I do have some new stuff to blog today, I thought I might as well put up some of these old photos taken while we were back home.

Waraku at Central Mall

Waraku opened their latest outlet at the new Central Mall (located above Clarke Quay MRT Station) and was having a promotion which gave 50% of what you spent on that day, as voucher for your next visit. Not wanting to miss such a good offer, we took the opportunity to check out the new Central Mall and also fill our stomach with a spread of delicious Japanese dishes.

MELLBEN SEAFOOD

Don't worry there's no spelling mistake in the above title. It's a place with great food but you must have an equally great patience to get a table. The queue here is crazy. In the 2 hours that we were having our dinner, the queue did not change, not even when it started pouring. Take a look at the pics ;)

Tarts No More!!

This is the best lot. Not only is it made using homemade pineapple jam, the flour and butter proportion is more accurate than our earlier batch. I couldn't believe it, we actually used 8 pineapples to make the jam and over 1kg of flour for 219 tarts but I must admit we had a generous serving of pineapple jam per tart. Our factory line (Ken and myself) worked non stop for 4 to 5 hours to produce this lot (excluding time taken to make the jam which my dad helped to grate). Now my index fingers are sore! No more making pineapple tarts for me for the year! Time for FEASTING. :P

Pineapple Tarts & Ping Pong

We decided to get our hands dirty today. After church we made pineapple tarts but we took the easy way out and used ready made pineapple jam. Needless to say ready made pineapple jam is no where comparable to home made jam. Finally Ken is convince to sweat it out and grate and squeeze the pineapple for me to make the jam! Yeah!!

In the later part of the afternoon we headed to Serangoon Gardens for Roti John and had table tennis session with my cousin. Yeap you must be wondering why we are full of energy today ;P

True Singaporean?

Our first breakfast in Singapore and of course in a hawker center at New Upper Changi Road. Ken had his kopi-o while I have my teh-c. We were greedy and had mee rubus and fried carrot cake. We were so happy as breakfast was not only good but it cost us about A$5.00 which is cheap! Yes for all those food!

Teh-C and Kopi-O (Tea with Carnation Milk and Black Coffee)
Fried Carrot Cake! My favourite!
Mee Rubus (Malay noodles)

Durain. Yes Ken finally had his durain after a long time and I must admit, not because we were in Australia but rather I would avoid him if he eats that fruit! *Evil Grin*

As you can see, all the food on the table are prepared by my parents. Yes the Christmas turkey and ham too!! My parents prepared the turkey, the stuffing and ham from scratch. The turkey was huge, about 6kg or 7kg and it took my parents about 4 hours to cook it and our family devoured all of it in just one evening. I guess this spells how yummy the food was.

We had a good time playing with the fire sparklers and we even had a mini project with all the cousins! It was no easy feat however we succeed and I will make it into cards (special edition) for all the families this (2007) Christmas!
